Study in Chicago This Summer!

The CHICAGOLAB is an urban planning + architecture studio course running from May 16 to June 23 and is open to undergraduate and graduate students of all majors in one of the greatest cities in the United States: CHICAGO! The program is offered through the College of Architecture + Planning (CA+P) at the University of Utah in partnership with Archeworks, a multidisciplinary design school with a social agenda.

The program  includes housing in Pilsen (one of the coolest neighborhoods in the City), workspace downtown (at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP and CannonDesign), a CTA transit pass to get around the City, group meals and other entertainment activities including, networking events, tours, visits to landmarks like the Chicago Design Museum, the Bean and many others! It does not include tuition or airfare.

The mission of CHICAGOLAB is to develop—with students, faculty, community organizations and members—design solutions that promote sustainability, affordability, and equity in Chicago. The summer program, offers students with practical experience working alongside global leaders and practitioners, while providing the community partners with research, ideas, and plans that they might develop further.

This summer, students will work with the Puerto Rican Agenda in Humboldt Park, a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood, to devise an anti-displacement community plan, including the proposal and design for two live-work spaces, a teacher’s village, and housing for artists.

Do not miss this great opportunity!

We invite you to explore this website where you can find all of the information you will need to join CHICAGOLAB this summer.

Looking forward to working with you,

Ivis Garcia Zambrana, Assistant Professor at CA+P

Andrew Balster, Executive Director of Archeworks
